Clearwater Community Sailing Center Named US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider Training Center

In 2014 The US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider named Clearwater Community Sailing Center (CCSC) of Clearwater, Florida, an official US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider Training Center. As part of its new role, CCSC acquired three brand-new 2.4mR Paralympic keelboats, two SKUD-18 Paralympic keelboats, and four Laser Radial Olympic dinghies. US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider athletes will be granted access to the venue and this equipment throughout the year, for both personal training sessions and full-team training camps. With this new partnership, CCSC firmly cemented its place as a leading contributor in the U.S. effort to produce a winning national Olympic and Paralympic team, and to cultivate a more effective development pathway for future Olympians and Paralympians.

CCSC recently hosted the US Disabled Championship November 18th-20th 2016. This US Sailing National Championship is one of the oldest sailing regattas in the U.S. for sailors with disabilities. The talented field often includes Paralympians, current or former US Sailing Team members, and new contenders.

Thank you to our Youth Sailing Family & Corporate Sponsors!

Your donations have helped keep kids on the water and experience the sport of sailing and all the positive attributes sailing develops. As a community sailing center, our mission is to never have financial limitations get in the way of a young sailor’s goals. Any funds raised will go directly to supplying young sailors with the proper equipment and to offset regatta expenses.

Member Guide Fri, 06 Mar 2015 19:37:04 +0000 Read More]]> Welcome to the Clearwater Community Sailing Center! We appreciate your membership and look forward to seeing you around the center. As new members here are some guidelines, tips, and tricks to help get you out on the water!

1. A parking permit is not required to park in any spot out front.
2. Members are allowed to bring guests for only $5.00 a day. Guests have to be accompanied by the member at all times while using equipment.
3. Members are allowed to reserve boats. Please call only up to three days in advance. Unfortunately we cannot take same day reservations.
4. Please call CCSC if you are going to need to cancel your reservation.
5. If you are late for your reservation by 20 minutes, CCSC will give your boat to the next person who needs it.
6. Please check in with the office to let them know what type of equipment you plan on taking out. Offer the name your membership is under so they can quickly look up your information to verify your membership.
7. Grab your life jacket and sail and start rigging! Our staff is more than welcome to lend a hand, but we do expect that you learn how to rig the boats you sail and get them ready on your own. Make sure you check that your lines, plugs, and sail are properly rigged. If you have any doubt, ask a yard staff member.
8. Please keep in mind that while we do have some higher performance boats, these are not part of the membership fleet. You do not have to pay extra to take them out when they are available, but they also tend to me more fragile and have an increased chances of breaking down in a rental environment. Their repairs are also more costly.
9. Know your boundaries. All of CCSC equipment must stay in the bay, eye sight of the building. You are welcome to land on both islands, but if you do make sure your boat is pointed into the wind and pulled far enough up onto the beach.
10. Be respectful of other members. If you’ve been on the water for some time, head back to shore to make sure no one else is waiting in line for some fun on the water.
11. Please be back on the beach, a half hour before closing time.
12. If you are done for the day ask a yard staff member if you should de-rig/put away your equipment or if it is ok to leave it on the beach.
13. Hang any wet life jackets on the clothes line to dry, or neatly put away dry ones.
14. Check back in with the office when you are done for the day.
15. Remember to recycle and/or throw away trash that you’ve accumulated throughout the day.
16. We offer free wifi to our guests who plan to stay on shore. Our password is Idratherbesailing.
17. Members are not allowed in the shop, back office, or any storage closet. If you need any assistance please ask a staff member.
18. Shoes are required when walking through the yard.
19. Please wear your life jacket at all times if you are past the black fence line or on our docks.
20. Lockers are available first come first serve at no charge.
21. Check the weather before you head out to CCSC. We use websites like:

1. There is no smoking on CCSC property.
2. Please refrain from drinking alcohol and using any CCSC equipment.
3. Make sure to rinse of using the outside showers to remove sand from your feet before heading in the restrooms.
4. Please keep all animals on a leash when they are at CCSC. No pets are allowed on board any CCSC equipment.
5. Remember this is your community sailing center. Have fun and enjoy being out the water!
